In March, Crist Opposed Gay Adoption. Crist opposed gay adoption in March 2006. "'We have an obligation to promote adoption so children can be raised in healthy homes,' [Crist] said. Crist added that he does not support ending Florida's ban on gay adoptions." [Sarasota Herald-Tribune, 04/01/06]
But In July, Crist Said He Was Still Deciding On Gay Adoption. As of July 2006, Crist said he had not made up his mind on gay adoption. Crist said "that he has not decided whether Florida should lift its long-standing ban on allowing gays to adopt children. He hasn't yet 'reached a conclusion,' he told Miami radio talk-show host Jim DeFede. 'Haven't taken a position yet,' Crist told DeFede." [St. Petersburg Times, 07/29/06]
And In August, Crist Opposed Gay Adoption Again. "Crist previously said he was undecided on gay adoption, but he recently told the Tampa Tribune editorial board he opposes it." The Lakeland Ledger reported that Crist "has been ambivalent on reversing the state's ban on gay adoption, recently saying he supports its continuation."
