SPECIAL OF THE DAY: The "He Said, Jeb Said" Waffle
Crist-Crossin’ Charlie’s House of Waffles
Crist Requests Meeting Cancellation In Order To Campaign For Governor. Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist requested Governor Jeb Bush cancel a cabinet meeting scheduled for Oct. 31 to allow Crist more time to campaign. Bush, at Crist's request, cancelled the meeting, calling the request "a good one." Bush: "The guy's running for governor. It's a big job, and a busy time. There's not a lot on the agenda. If there was a congested agenda... if we weren't going to be able to do our job, then I would have said: ‘Look, you adjust your schedule.'" [Palm Beach Post, 10/18/06]
Crist Denied The Cancellation Was At His Request, Bush Reschedules Meeting. Shortly after, Crist said he did not know the reason for the cancelled meeting, while a spokesperson for the Attorney Generals' office said it was "miscommunication." Crist: "I didn't cancel any of them, for the record. I'm happy to go if they're scheduled." However, Bush still contended that Crist wanted the cancellation, saying, "Well, I was told that the attorney general's office requested that it be canceled, which I was more than willing to accommodate. We did it in the primary, if you recall." [Palm Beach Post, 10/18/06, Palm Beach Post, 10/19/06]
