Still Time To Vote In State Senate District 3 and House District 43 Primaries - Polls open until 7PM today!

Voter turnout in special primaries is historically low, so just a few votes can, and often do, make the difference. Suzan Franks and Mark Ravenscraft are the two Democrats running for State Senator in District 3, an opportunity to pick-up a Republican-held seat. You can learn more about these candidates through the following links:

Mark Ravenscraft: http://www.flapolitics.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=1821

The two Democratic candidates in the House District 43 primary are Sophia Diaz-Fonseca and Patricia Lee Kittleman. Find out more about these candidates by reading the St. Pete Times.

If you live in Leon, Jefferson, Taylor, Madison, Hamilton, Suwannee, Lafayette, Dixie, Columbia, Baker, Citrus, Marion, or Levy counties, you still have time to vote today. Check your voter card and if you're in Senate District 3 and/or House District 43, take a few minutes and vote at your polling location by 7PM tonight.

Supposed Moderate Vern Buchanan Hiding Right-Wing Record

Vern Buchanan ran one of the dirtiest campaigns in Florida's history and slipped into Congress, ignoring 18,000 Sarasota County voters who didn't have their votes counted. Floridians have been betrayed again by Vern who inexplicably voted against increased port security (despite representing a coastal district) and better medical care for veterans returning from the Iraq War (despite representing thousands of veterans). Even worse, he is claiming to be a "moderate" voice in Congress! Buchanan has voted with the Republican minority in Congress over 95% of the time, proving once-and-for-all that he is nothing more than a crony for George Bush and Karl Rove. Floridians deserve the Representative they elected, not the one who slithered into power. Write a letter to the editor now, and tell your neighbors that Vern won't fool Florida again.

  • Vern voted against $190 million in Port Security Grants.  [HR 2206, Vote #333, 5/10/07; HR 1591, Vote #276, 5/2/07; HR 1591, Vote #265, 4/25/07; Summary of the Fiscal 2007 Supplemental Funding Legislation]

  • Vern has repeatedly voted against legislation to fund veterans programs. [HR 2206, Vote #333, 5/10/07; HR 1591, Vote #276, 5/2/07; HR 1591, Vote #265, 4/25/07; HR 1591, Vote #186, 3/23/07]

  • Vern voted against a historic and much-needed $6.6 billion increase in funding for veterans' health care programs. [HCR 99, Vote #212, 3/29/07; SCR21, Vote #377, 5/17/07]
