July 10, 2008

The Wakulla Democratic Executive Committee proudly announces the official formation of the "Wakulla Democratic Black Caucus".  The first regular meeting of the WDBC will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the TCC Conference Center in Crawfordville at 6:00 pm.  All Democrats, regardless of race, are invited to attend and join the organization.

The featured speaker will be (the amazing!) Lizzie Jenkins, Chair of the Florida Democratic Party Black Caucus, who will address the group about registering to vote, Voting At Home, and restoration of Voting Rights for those who have been disenfranchised.  Bylaws will be adopted, officers will be elected, and the group will be officially launched that evening as well.

The WDBC plans to host upcoming "Yes We Can!" events to register every eligible citizen in Wakulla County, to educate people about their voting rights and responsibilities, and to promote policies and programs which truly open the process of voting to every citizen like the "Souls To The Polls" nationwide effort.

People interested in becoming members of the group or getting more information should attend the meeting, or may call the Wakulla Democratic Party at 926-5470.
