Congressman Steny Hoyer Congressman Steny Hoyer, House Majority Leader

Congressman Steny H. Hoyer represents Maryland's Fifth Congressional District, which includes Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's counties and portions of Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties. A resident of Mechanicsville serving his 14th term in Congress, Congressman Hoyer became the longest-serving Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Maryland in history on June 4, 2007.

In November 2006, Congressman Hoyer was elected by his colleagues in the Democratic Caucus to serve as House Majority Leader in the 110th Congress. His election as Majority Leader which is the second-highest position in the House makes him the highest-ranking Member of Congress from Maryland in history.     Read More

Senator Bob Menendez

Bob Menendez grew up the son of immigrants in a tenement building in Union City, New Jersey. Since 1992, he's been fighting for New Jersey families in Washington, where he rose to become the third-highest ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives before taking office in the Senate in 2006. He currently serves on the Senate Committees on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; Energy and National Resources; Budget; and Foreign Relations. Bob is also the Chairman of the Subcommittee on International Development and Foreign Assistance, Economic Affairs, and International Environmental Protection. He is the highest ranking Cuban-American Democrat in the history of Congress.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz

Craig Smith

Craig T. Smith is a Principal of Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates, Washington, D.C. His extensive background includes several positions in the White House, serving as Assistant to President Clinton and White House Political Director, coordinating the political activities of President Clinton and the First Lady. Craig also served as Co-Executive Director of the 53rd Presidential Inaugural. Most recently, he served as the Campaign Director and Senior Advisor for Senator Lieberman's presidential campaign. Internationally, Craig has been directly involved in political campaigns across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean.

Mary Beth Cahill

One of the top political strategists of her generation, Mary Beth Cahill provided the political leadership and vision that helped Democrats retake both the House and the Senate in the 2006 midterm elections. Cahill has been working in the trenches of electoral politics for most of her career, honing her talents by managing campaigns of U.S. House and Senate candidates. The only woman to head up a presidential campaign in 2004 - she was John Kerry's campaign director, leading his dramatic turnaround in the primaries. Cahill is a recognized expert on what motivates women voters, Cahill has trained female candidates to run for political office in Russia, Macedonia, and Ireland.

Joe Garcia

Miami-Dade County Democratic Executive Committee Chair Joe García is Director of the New Democrat Network's Hispanic Strategy Center, paving the way for Democrats to communicate more effectively with Latinos across the country. Previously, García served as Executive Director and member of the Board of Directors of the Cuban American National Foundation, the largest organization of its kind in the U.S. and one of the most respected voices in the Hispanic community. Also, García served seven years on the Florida Public Service Commission as an appointee of the late Governor Lawton Chiles. García resides in Miami Beach with his wife, Aileen Ugalde, Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the University of Miami, and their daughter, Gabriela.

Jim Kitchens, founder of The Kitchens Group, is an attitude and mass persuasion specialist with a Ph.D. in political communication. Having represented more than 40 members of Congress, Jim transforms statistical data into persuasive messaging campaigns. Kitchens has interviewed more than one million Americans, developing expertise in attitudes toward the environment, legalized gambling, corporate issues, tort reform and general campaign strategy.

David Boundy

David Boundy has extensive experience in politics, technology, grassroots organizing and field operations. As the AFL-CIO's Campaign Director and Deputy Political Director from 1996 - 2005, Boundy helped design and direct the AFL-CIO's successful field programs. Boundy also served at the U.S. Department of Labor in the Clinton Administration, and he worked on the Clinton/Gore and Dukakis/Bentsen Presidential campaigns. He has also managed and consulted on several state and local campaigns.

Matt Stoller

Matt Stoller of OpenLeft.com is President of the political action committee BlogPAC and he also consults for the Sunlight Foundation on open government, for ActBlue, and for Working Assets, a progressive phone company. Other past projects of his include the web campaign thereisnocrisis.com to fight against the privatization of Social Security, a radio and blog project called 'The Blogging of the President', and the web campaign enjoythedraft.com. He is the co-author of a report titled 'The Emergence of the Progressive Blogosphere' from the New Politics Institute. In 2003, he worked on the Draft Wesley Clark movement. Stoller began blogging in 2002.

Robin Rorapaugh

Robin Rorapaugh has over 20 years experience managing statewide political and issues campaigns around the country. A Floridian by choice, Rorapaugh served as Chief of Staff for former Congressman Peter Deutsch for six years as well as campaign manager for Buddy McKay's general election campaign and Bill McBride's primary campaign. Rorapaugh is president of Rorapaugh-Teicher LLC, a political consulting firm that specializes in communications and management.

Mark Herron

Mark Herron is a lawyer specializing in ethics and elections law, legislative representation, administrative law and appellate practice. Mark served as a member of the State of Florida Commission on Ethics from 1984-1988, serving as its Chairman in 1987-1988. He has served as the Executive Director and General Counsel to the Florida House of Representatives. Mr. Herron has also served as the Staff Director of the Florida House Select Committee on Reapportionment and the Florida House Committee on Commerce.

Orleans

Best known for classic hits such as "Still the One" and "Dance with Me", the rock band Orleans has been performing live and recording albums since 1972. Original band member John Hall, a Democrat from New York, took a Republican-held Congressional seat in 2006. While Congressman Hall works in Washington with the new Democratic Majority, the band plays on with Lance and Larry Hoppen, youngest brother Lane Hoppen on keyboards, Dennis "Fly" Amero (replacing John Hall) on guitar and, on drums, Charlie Morgan (best known for his 14-year stint with Elton John).
