FW: McCain vs. Florida
Dear Friends,

John McCain is out of touch with Florida and the problems that we face in the Sunshine State.

On Monday, McCain had the nerve to come to our state and tell us what we are seeing in our own lives isn't true – he insisted that "fundamentals of the economy are strong."

Last month, more than 44,000 Florida property owners received foreclosure notices. In the past year 100,000 Floridians lost their jobs. The market meltdown has put our savings at risk.

While fundamentals of John McCain's economy might be strong, because his eight homes are safe and his personal private jet is still flying, he should at least recognize that Floridians are suffering under the failed Bush-McCain economic policies.

Today, we are launching McCain vs. Florida: http://www.McCainvsFlorida.com, so you can see first hand that, on the issues important to the people of Florida, John McCain is out of touch.

McCain brags about his opposition to lower homeowners’ insurance rates through a National Catastrophe Fund.

He calls legislation to fund Everglades clean-up efforts “pork” and teamed up with Bush in a failed attempt to stop the funding.

He says Social Security is a “disgrace” and wants to privatize the program that keeps so many Florida seniors out of poverty. In light of the current Wall Street mess, can you imagine if Social Security were subject to the volatility of the stock market?

Visit http://www.McCainvsFlorida.com today to learn more about why John McCain is just plain wrong for Florida.

Between now and Election Day, we will be adding issues and expanding on the information, so I encourage you to visit often.

Sincerely,

Congresswoman Karen L. Thurman
Chair, Florida Democratic Party
